Maria De Nobili

Ordinary professor

Expert in organic matter, humic substances and biological activity in soils

She has been head of research units involved in several projects dealing with soil organic matter dynamics, soil biological properties and functions. With a multidisciplinary approach, she investigates the links between pedoclimatic conditions, soil management, biological activity and sustainability. Her present research focuses on the redox state of recalcitrant organic matter components in flooded soils and sediments and their relationship with sulfides and toxic metals immobilization. Other interests include the composting of sewage sludge and organic wastes (two patents were already deposited) and their use in agriculture, particularly in relation to methane emission/oxidation in soil.

Marco Contin

Associate professor

Expert in toxic elements, metal uptake and soil mercury contamination

Aldo Bertoni

Technician

Technical experience within several methods of soil chemistry and biochemistry

Andrea Cudini

Technician

Technical experience within several methods of soil chemistry and biochemistry

Elisa Pellegrini

Assistant professor

Working on plant-soil interactions in flooded environments

Her research interest is on plant-soil interactions in flooded environments. She conducts research in Environmental Science, Soil Science and Plant Biology, working on plant acclimation to environmental stresses and feedback mechanisms on soil mediated by plants.  She also gains experience on soil sulfides and biouptake in plants of Hg, as well on species invasion and their effects on soil properties. Her interest spans from wild habitats to agroecosystems (e.g. fertilizers and microbiome) and, about technical approaches, she masters the use of micro- and planar sensors.
